Sentient which means to perceive is a connected home device. The two-part system of a lamp and app work in tandem to help couples and individuals in staying informed about the female reproductive health. For couples who are trying to get pregnant, being aware of the menstrual cycles becomes very crucial to better understand and be prepared for the fertility window (ovulation cycles) in the month. Mostly, it becomes the responsibility of female counterpart in the relation to inform and take charge of this information. With sentient, both partners can have access to shared knowledge about the cycles which enables them to become equals in their decision making.
Connected to the App, the lamp uses color to signify the different phases of monthly cycles and generates altering energies through color based on the principles of color therapy or chromotherapy. This helps people in perceiving and being aware of the changes in the cycle in advance, also informing and enabling couples and individuals to be prepared for the phases.
A study reveals that 86% of women are caught off guard when their periods arrive and have to run to get a tampon/pad or ask their colleagues for help. With Sentient, the use of color is used as a signifier of a anomaly in the routine which attracts the human eye and brain to generate a reaction to the change.
